Our Focus

Living with Clarity:

Through the practice of Mindfulness, we can begin to see the nature of the mind, which is calm, open, and peaceful. We often spend days lost in repetitive thoughts or become easily carried away by difficult emotions. By gathering and collecting our attention in the present moment, we can move from being lost in complicated mind states to being aware of their presence.

This awareness is the difference between suffering and freedom. Mindfulness brings us into the here and now, where we experience the full range of being human. From here, we can learn to meet our relationships, jobs, families, and all of life with a clear and caring presence. We move from habitual reactivity to skillfully responding to our world and discover how to gently tend to our lives.

Moving with Compassion:

The practice of waking up to our lives is not complete without the ability to hold our difficulties with the heart of compassion. Being human is tough. We develop the capacity to honestly care for ourselves and the people around us through the cultivation and practice of joy, compassion, lovingkindness, and equanimity.

Research shows that 78% of people are more compassionate to others than themselves. With this practice, we can learn to provide the same understanding, kindness, and care to ourselves that we provide to those we love. Cultivating these heart practices for ourselves will undoubtedly expand to everyone with time.

Meeting in Community:

Awakening in Community is a profound opportunity to learn from each other, grow together, and make friends with like-minded individuals. At Madison Mindfulness, we are supported by one another in a safe online space.

All people are respected and welcomed, including all races, cultures, economic backgrounds, gender and gender identities, sexual orientations, and political affiliations. We honor the diversity that all people bring to the practice of living with wisdom and compassion.
